Will of Anthony Benson

of St Pancras, London, Middlesex attested 07 Dec 1839

This is the last will and testament
of me Anthony Benson of Tottenham Court Road cheesemonger
I give and bequeath to my dear wife Ann Benson all my household
furniture goods chattels and effects of a life mature also my leasehold
house and premises in Tottenham Court Road wherein I now reside for
and during her life and after her decease I bequeath the same house
and premises to my daughter Margaret now the wife of Stephen Richardson
I also bequeath to my dear wife Ann the leasehold or 1 Upper Edmond
Street now in the occupation of Carpenter for her own absolute
use and benefit I bequeath to my said daughter Margaret Richardson
my leasehold house No 3 Lower Edmund Street Kings Cross for her
own separate use and benefit during her life independent of the debts
or control of her present or future husband and after the decease of my
said daughter I bequeath the said house No 3 Lower Edmund Street
to her child or children living at her decease I bequeath unto William
Bennett of Holborn Gent and William Todd of Barningham Yorkshire
Son of William Todd of the same place Gent my house No 4 Lower
Edmund St aforesaid upon trust to receive the rents & profits & invest
or apply the same for the benefit or maintenance of my granddaughter
Ann Richardson the daughter of my daughter Margaret Richardson
until my s[ai]d granddaughter attains 21 and then to transfer the s[ai]d
last mentioned house and premises to my s[ai]d granddaughter for her own
absolute use and in case my said granddaughter should die before she
attains the age of 21 years I bequeath the said last mentioned house
to my said granddaughter Margaret the sister of the said Ann Richardson
I devise and bequeath to my said
daughter Margaret Richardson all my freehold lands
heredit[ament]s and premises situate at Boldron Yorkshire with the houses
appurt[enance]s thereto belonging except the land and heredit[ament]s I bought of Joan
Applegate for and during her life and after her decease I give and devise
the said lands and heredit[ament]s unto all and every the child and
children of my said daughter share and share alike and if but one
child then to each one child I devise and bequeath my freehold lands
and heredit[ament]s at Boldron Yorkshire & which I purchased of Joan Apple-
gate unto them my said trustees William Bennett & William Todd
& the surv[ivor] of them upon trust to sell & dispose th[ere]of & to apply the
produce as part of my residuary personal estate and I direct the the receipt of
my said trustees shall be a good and sufficient discharge to the purchaser
or purchasers th[ere]of who shall not be required to see to the application
of his or her purchase money All the rest residue and remainder
of my real & personal estate I devise and bequeath unto my daughter
Margaret for her life and after her decease for her children subject never-
theless payment of my just debts and funeral and testamentary
expenses
Lastly I appoint my partner Mr Jeremiah
Newton executor and Trustee jointly with the said William Todd
and Wm Bennett and I devise and bequeath to him jointly with them
the said heredit[ament]s and premises so given in trust as aforesaid In witness
whereof I have herein to set my hand this seventh day of December 1839. Anthony
Benson signed by the said testator as his last Will and Testament in
the presence of us present at the same time who at his request in his
presence & in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as
Witnesses
