Will of Thomas Benson

of Startforth, Boldron, Yorkshire attested 30 Mar 1816

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Benson
of Boldron in the Parish of Startforth and
County of York being of sound mind and
Memory Prased be God for it, do make
this my last Will and Testament in Manner
following that, is to say, I give to my Nephew
George Benson son of James Benson
All my Real Estate Consisting of Houses
and Lands Tenements and Appurtenances
with Common & Common of pasture
within the Manor or Lordship of Bowes
in the Parish of Startforth and a Messuage
or Dwelling house Cellar Stable Housestead
and Garth or Garden in high Startforth
all in the County of York And also all
my Personal Estate and Wearing Apparel
of What Nature or kind what so ever and
wheresoever the same may be to him
and his heirs or Assigns for ever, he
paying out of the same all my just
Debts and Funeral expenses And I
Charge my Real and Personal Estate with
the payment of the following Legacies
herein after bequeathed, that is to say, I give
to Thomas Benson to James Benson to
to Anth[on]y Benson to Nicholas Benson to
W[illia]m Benson to Hannah Whitfield sons
& Daughter of James Benson Ten Pounds
each to Elisabeth Metcalf & James Awde sen[io]r
Ten Pounds each to Elisabeth Benson
Widow of Job Benson to Elisabeth Greenwell
Widow of George Greenwell Twenty Pounds
each, Which said Legacies I direct to be
paid at the end of Twelve Months after
my Decease by the said George Benson
his heirs Administrators or Assigns
Who I hereby Nominate and Appoint
sole Executor of this my last Will and
Testament hereby Revoking and making
void all former Will or Wills or Testaments
made by me, and publishing and declaring
this to be my last Will unto Which
I have set my hand and seal this
thirtieth day of March 1816
