In the Name of God Amen I James Richardson of Northfield in the Parish of Startforth and County of York Yeoman do make and ordain this for and as my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I Give and devise unto my Son Thomas Richardson All that my Messuage Tenement or Dwellinghouse wherein I now live called Northfield with all Outhouses Lands Closes Parcels of Ground Pasturegates Hereditaments and Premisses thereunto belonging com[m]only called Northfield Lands with the Appurtenances And also all those my Lands Closes or Parcels of Ground with the Appurtenances com[m]only called or known by the Name of Langstaff Closes and adjoining to part of the said Northfield Lands To hold to him the said Thomas Richardson his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to and charged and chargeable nevertheless with the payment of all my just Debts and to and with the Several Legacies and Sums of Money hereinafter menc[i]oned that is to say
To my Daughter Jane the Sum of Seventy Pounds when she attains the Age of twenty five years or upon the Day of her Marriage which shall first happen
To my Daughters Hannah Isabel and Margaret the Sum of Seventy Pounds a piece which said Several Legacies and Sums of Money I will shall be respectively paid by my said Son Thomas forth and out of the Premisses hereby devised to him as aforesaid when they shall attain the several Ages of Twenty one years but if any f them happen to dye in the mean time without Issue of her or their Bodys lawfully to be begotten then living Then my Will and Mind is that the part and Share of her or them so dying shall go and be divided amongst the Survivors of them share and share alike
I also Give and devise unto my said Son Thomas All my Leasehold Lands Closes and Hereditaments whatsoever with the Appurtenances called and known by the Name of Startforth great Moor otherwise Pearson Moor which I now hold and enjoy under Sir Thomas Robinson Bar[one]t for the Remainder of a Term of one thousand years To hold to my said Son Thomas from and imediately after my Decease for and during the Residue and Remainder of the said Term then to come
I also Give and devise to my said Son Thomas All my Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever with their Appurt[enance]s in Bowron in the Parish of Startforth in the said County of York and now in the Possession of Thomas Newton as Tenant thereof To hold to him his Heirs and Assigns for ever
I also Give and bequeath unto my said Son Thomas Richardson All my Stock of Cattle Hay and Implements of Husbandry One Bed and beding in the Great Chamber my Clock and great Table in the Kitchen
And lastly I Give and bequeath unto my loving Wife Hannah Richardson All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Household Furniture Plate Linnen and other my Personal Estate of what Nature Kind or Quality soever the same may be or consist
And I do hereby name make constitute and appoint my said Wife sole Executrix and residuary Legatee of this my last Will and Testament And I do hereby revoke and make null and void all former and other Will and Wills by me at any Time heretofore made
And lastly I nominate and appoint my Dear Brothers Richard Kipling of Bowes in the County of York Yeoman and William Thompson of Pryrigg in the Parish of Bowes afores[ai]d in the said County Yeoman Supervisors of this my Will requesting them to give my said Wife their best Advice and Assistance in the Management and Execution thereof I give and bequeath to each of them ten shillings and six pence
